Stannard (Standard) Rock
is the most popular charter destination.  This is our premiere trip, with many of our customers returning on a yearly basis!   This is a full day fishing adventure lasting about 10-12 hours.

At the Rock, we fish by both casting and jigging.  This is "World Class Lake Trout Fishing" - many records have been set here!  Limit catches are the norm and fish in the 20 to 30 lb range are caught daily!  All fishing equipment is provided; however, if you have a favorite rod - bring it along and we will tell you the best way to rig it up!

In 1978, Kimar's Charters became the first charter boat to venture 44 miles out to Stannard Rock on a regular basis.  Stannard Rock is a shallow reef where native Lake Superior lake trout feed.  The reef is marked by the farthest offshore lighthouse in the U.S.  To learn more, click here to read an article written by Captain Ric and featured in several magazines.

Stannard Rock was discovered in 1837 by Captain Charles Stannard, after whom the lighthouse is named.  In 1882 the lighthouse was completed to protect seafarers from the reef that is as shallow as four feet.  This construction was considered by the National Park Service to be one of the top ten engineering feats in the US.
